Intro To The Trip

Our nomad existence is about to start again.  This time the proposed route is: Melbourne, Mildura (refer B on map), Flinders Ranges (C), Birdsville (D), Mt Isa (E), Karumba (F), Cairns (G), maybe Cooktown, then meander home.  If the road via Birdsville is unsuitable for our caravan we will give that route a miss and travel via Port Augusta, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.  However this will add an additional 1200+ km to the trip - but of course would include places such as Coober Pedy, King's Canyon and the MacDonnell Ranges.

The plan is to depart late May and get back home late September. That plan includes meeting up with good friends (Kay & Darryl) in the Flinders Ranges and loosely travelling together.  We like to get value from Darryl's travel tips and fishing skills - they, in turn, will expect a steady supply of scones, cream & jam.

I will hopefully update the blog at least once per week.  However this may not occur if we are enjoying ourselves too much - like eating fish or scones.

  1. Lake Tyrrell looks like a nice place for a free camp.
